Privacy policy

A clear guide to the information Protify handles when you track meals, scan food, plan your week, or use Premium.

In short: Protify uses information you provide to run meal tracking and AI features. Some information is processed by Google, Firebase, Cloudflare, RevenueCat, and Google Play to deliver those features. You can request account and data deletion by email; the app currently does not offer an in-app account-deletion control.

01. Who we are

“Protify,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Protify, operated by Akshay Komar. We provide the Protify Android application and related services. This policy describes how we handle personal information when you use them.

02. Information we handle

The information depends on the features you use and whether you sign in.

Account and profile

Firebase Authentication provides account identity, such as a Firebase user identifier, email address and sign-in method. Your profile may include your name, weight, protein or nutrition goals, activity level, dietary preferences and app/device details such as device model, Android version, app version and country setting. Password authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication; Protify does not receive your Google password.

Meals, plans and preferences

Meal entries can include foods, portions, calories and macronutrients, meal names, timestamps, your edits, and scan or save events. If you use meal planning, we may handle the goal, diet, cuisines, foods to avoid, selected city/region, and generated or edited plan. Shopping-list data is stored locally on your device.

Photos, audio and location

  • Food photos: A photo you submit for scanning is sent to Protify’s Cloudflare-hosted service and Google Gemini for analysis. If you save the scanned meal, Protify may upload a meal image to Firebase Cloud Storage and associate its URL with your account record.
  • Voice: If you choose voice scanning, Android’s speech-recognition service processes microphone audio to produce a transcript. The transcript is then sent to Protify’s service and Google Gemini to identify meal information.
  • Location: If you choose current-location setup for a meal plan, Android location/geocoding services use device location to derive a city or region. Protify uses the selected city/region for local meal suggestions; the app’s meal-plan request sends that city/region, not raw GPS coordinates.

Purchases, usage and diagnostics

Google Play and RevenueCat process subscription transactions. Protify receives product and entitlement status needed to show Premium access; Protify does not receive your full payment-card details. Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring may process app events, installation identifiers, device/app details, performance signals and crash diagnostics. If push registration is enabled and you are signed in, Firebase Cloud Messaging and Protify’s push service may handle a device push token and notification-allowed status.

03. How we use information

  • create and secure accounts, sign you in and sync your profile;
  • scan meals, save your entries and calculate nutrition estimates;
  • generate, store and personalize meal plans and suggestions;
  • provide Premium features, process purchases and restore access;
  • send notifications you have allowed and respond to support requests;
  • understand app reliability, diagnose crashes, prevent abuse and improve the service; and
  • meet legal obligations and protect users, the service and our rights.

04. AI, voice and location features

AI features are user-initiated. A food image or voice transcript and the context needed for the requested result may pass through our Cloudflare Worker to Google Gemini (Google AI Studio or Vertex AI, depending on the service configuration). Meal-plan requests may include your selected city/region and dietary preferences. We do not send these inputs to generate an AI result unless you invoke the relevant feature.

Cloudflare and Google may process request and technical metadata under their own terms. Provider retention and processing can depend on the selected Google service and its configuration. Review Google’s Gemini API terms and privacy policy. Do not submit sensitive information that is not needed for the feature.

Nutrition recognition and generated plans are estimates. They may be incomplete or wrong; verify important ingredients, portions, allergens and nutrition values yourself.

05. Service providers

We use service providers to operate Protify. They process information for the purposes described above and under their own terms and privacy notices.

06. Sharing and international processing

We do not sell personal information for money. We may provide information to the service providers above to run the features you request, to protect the service, or when required by law. If a build has Meta measurement enabled, the listed app events may also be shared with Meta for measurement. Each provider’s own terms describe its handling of information it receives.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Data-protection laws and safeguards can differ by location. By using a feature, your information may be processed where the relevant provider operates, subject to applicable law.

07. Storage, security and retention

Signed-in profile, meal, plan and related records are stored in Firebase services associated with your account. Some preferences and shopping-list information are stored on your device. Photos used for AI analysis are transmitted for processing; saved meal images may also be stored in Firebase Cloud Storage.

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain records, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations and protect against abuse. Provider systems may retain technical or diagnostic records under their own retention schedules. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. We use safeguards intended to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

08. Your choices and account deletion

You can decline optional permissions, edit profile and meal information, and manage notifications in Android settings. Some features will not work without the information or permission they need.

Request account and data deletion: Email akshaykomar732@gmail.com from the email address on your account. Include “Account and data deletion” in the subject and the account email (do not send your password). We may ask for reasonable verification. We will confirm the request and process deletion of account information and associated data we control, subject to records we must retain by law or for legitimate security, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes.

The Android app currently has no in-app account-deletion control. Removing the app does not delete server-side data or cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel a subscription separately in Google Play. Contact us if you need help with a privacy request or applicable rights in your region.

09. Children

Protify is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action. A higher minimum age may apply under local law.

10. Changes and contact

We may revise this policy as the app, service providers or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app or by another reasonable method.
